WORLD LAND TRUST
According to World Land Trust up to 90% of Madagascar's natural habitat has already been lost and Lemurs are now the most endangered species on the planet facing extinction.
In an eastern district there is just one forest left. It is the last remaining home for Lemurs and many more rare species and plants in this area.
Part of your donation goes to World Land Trust and the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Madagascar Programme to reforest 500,000 native trees and provide 1000 jobs for local communities. The rest of the donation supports the next two projects.
Eden Reforestation Projects
With the help of local people this project has already replanted 77 million mangrove trees. Several thousands of hectares have already been restored.
By rehabilitating these mangrove estuaries Lemurs and many other wildlife plants and creatures now have a chance to thrive.
There are many more projects too. Including helping Lemurs in captivity and relocating others out of degraded forests into larger protected ones.
Chances for Nature
With the help of a mobile cinema Chances for Nature travel throughout communities to educate locals to live in a way that is better for their environment.
They do this by raising awareness through film that educates local people in their native language about all the beautiful creatures and plants that are all around them and how unhealthy practices profoundly affect all of the creatures and their habitat.
They also encourage and promote the use of natural resources in a way that is sustainable and not destructive. One of those resources being the fuel locals use for cooking.
